Sally James
All Things

There was a definite snap in the air as the nice little bubble they'd been sitting in together was popped rather viciously. She didn't know if it had been her fault or his fault but whatever she had said (and she couldn't quite remember right now) it couldn't have been as bad as what he said to her.

He sat up and his face had noticeably changed. He wasn't the laughing King of the Bs right now, he was sort of frightening.

She briefly chided herself. There she went again Sally-always-puts-her-foot-in-it-James. But then he took over the insults and she couldn't let him carry on like that. He had to understand that he wasn't the big shot he thought he was and that ridiculous notion had to disappear right now. He got up as though he was going to get that drink that he so desperately wanted. She looked away. Well, she'd be glad to be rid of him wouldn't she. But he didn't move. Instead he looked at her and that look confused her.

Sticking with the only form of defence she knew against Willoughby she told him what she thought of him.

"Don't you dare call me a nobody!" she shot at him, getting to her feet. She was now considerably shorter than she had been teetering on those high heels. At least now she could be sure of staying upright - right? "If I was such a nobody then why are you always right behind me? Why do you always go out of your way just so you can fling another insult at me? Why bother sitting here talking to me?" Her anger was building and if she wasn't careful she was going to say something stupid it and regret it in the morning. "People aren't toys - I'm not a toy. You can't just play with me because you feel like it, dammmit Willoughby I'm a person. Those airheads that fall at your feet might let you toss them around but I won't." She turned as if she was going to leave but didn't.

Though she didn't realise it she gave him the exact same look he had given her.
