In Michigan they sell these 4 foot by 4 foot by 3 inch thick swimming floats. I've heard they come from refrigerator trucks. I believe they are indestructable and can be cut to fit. Last year I used six of them to float an 800 pound boat lift accross a lake. Four of them are enough to get it off the bottom to move. They may be a bit pricey, one is around $33.
Could someone recommend a USA distributor for Dow (or equivalent) foam billets? Even better - a distributor in the New England area? I’m striking out with the local hardware stores.
just make sure that the foam is the closed cell type which doesn't get water logged. Foam used for insulation takes up water with time and becomes useless.
