Tombstone's Lady Deputy? - 1882?
Sun Jul 6, 2014 8:48am

Hi there,

I just returned from a trip to Tombstone (what fun!). Today I found myself looking up newspaper articles on Morgan Earp's shooting on the Chronicling America website. I discovered an odd little mention in the March 27, 1882, Tombstone Epitaph on page 2: "Tombstone boasts a lady resident, who, notwithstanding the troubled spirit of the times, dares to wear the badge of a deputy sheriff. She ought to lead the posse." The link is here:

Any idea who/what this is in reference to? I'd love to know!
