End Drug Price Piracy
Sun Apr 22, 2018 12:39pm

Drugs that cost less than 10 cent per pill, including research & development expenses frequently sell for $10, $30, or even $100 per pill. This should be illegal. The purpose of patents is to give incentive for invention, not to create legalized piracy by holding people hostage for life saving medication whose development was mainly paid for by governmental agencies and only after initial development were the patents issued to private firms.

At the very least, it should be illegal for any company to charge MORE in USA than it charges in other countries such as Canada.

In addition, price gouging should be a crime, the minimum penalty for which is LOSS OF PATENT. Who determines if a price is excessive? Why a jury, of course.
