Sure, any pitching prospect is a lottery ticket, and De Los Santos was in our second tier. Galvis' defense gives him a decent floor. But he's here for one year, a year in which the only thing that matters is developing / acquiring pieces for 2019 and beyond.

I can't shake the fear that the front office looks at last season's record as a true measure of the team's talent and not the Costco Bucket o'Luck that it mostly was. This "intangibles" just extended Green because of his leadership qualities, and now you're overvaluing Galvis and Hosmer because they've got The Good Face?

      I thought De Los Santos was a really good bet (at least as far as pitching prospects go) to at least be usable out of the pen. Hell, Tatis might be ready in March. I know shortstop has been ghastly... more
