Thanks. I loved that post on Cordero. Jeff Sullivan is the only guy left there! I wonder what’s going to become of Fangraphs.

Not sure if you guys have been following the growing concern around labor unrest in the sport (not to mention elsewhere). But at this point I have a hard time thinking about Hosmer in any other context. I cant really put my finger on what he “should” be worth.

I cant for the life of me understand who is advocating for this move though. It cant be Fowler, can it? I could see there being an argument around swing plane. Not to mention the guy’s age, his bonafides with leading a young KC team to a WS. And what appears to be more star power than Wil Myers.

But, ya... all of that is balanced by the Padres now obviously rich talent pipeline. I can come up with plenty of reasons to acquire a player with Eric Hosmer’s skill set. But it’s the price tag that’s concerning. And as McBain pointed out, Preller’s track record on these kind of decisions is mixed at best.

I went along for the Trea Turner ride. Hard to forget that.

Cant find over/under yet on wins in 2018. But if it’s in the low 70s, I’d be inclined to take the over. I think they’ve got a realistic shot at .500, actually.

Franchy's loud tools make for good daydreams, but guys with his profile have a....what, 20% chance of becoming a productive player? Unlike many past Padre prospects, though, a sizable chunk of that... more

We know you miss those old Nick Schmidt drafts..... I don't know about Franchy's tools and their relative likelihood of coming true. I'd suspect 20% might be high actually. It's interesting because... more
