definitely something to watch going forward, but this doesn't sound terribly different then what Latos dealt with a couple of years ago, I'm guessing that was when he was pitching only 56 innings in consecutive years. So hopefully he overcomes this with rest. I'm thrilled that what I considered a near-lock (Kelly debuting with the Pads this year) is still in the cards.
The DP's were harsh last night. Hard to watch when they start being predictable (runner on 1st... here it comes). Really wish Kotsay would have caught that ball though they definitely deserved to lose.
I've liked what I've seen in Bass' starts in his young major league career. Don't think he has #2 type upside, but not back-of-the rotation type either. Not sure his changeup is something he can use whenever, he stole a strike 1 with it which seemed like a good use. His FB velocity is above-average and his control of it I'd say is about average at this point. Really liked how he complimented his fastball with his slider. Wouldn't mind seeing them give him a ton of starts the rest of the way, and potentially used as trade-bait next off-season. A lot of that depends on how the pen develops with their core now and the high minor guys that could establish themselves in the meantime.
I'm finding it really hard to give a crap with all the ownership BS. Also Moorad lets Hoyer walk and then gets forced out by MLB/Moores, really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm not sure why, or if ... more
I don't think a salary cap is fair to the players, nor do I think the owners should need an artificial check on their own choices. As a Padres fan, it's pretty much our team's only hope of... more
It seems to have been at least partly the umpire's fault, but a triple play? In the 9th inning? Whatever I did, karma, why are you punishing all the other Padre fans?
Something else, to be sure. I honestly can't remember a season that started this poorly. I'm not sure which was worse - the ending to yesterday's game, or the ignominy of Aaron Harang striking out... more
Kelly coming to SD for MRI and more on his elbow. This is as bad as I ever remember. I guess part of what makes it so bad is that I didn't see it coming. Wow.
fresh off his highest strikeout total in a game and this happens?!? No good at all. I'm going to assume the worst and figure we can now write off Kelly contributing with the Padres until the 2014... more
Feel much better after the MRI, but still, inflammation is a sign of some injury. So we get that good news, and then we hit into a billion DPs against Methuselah.
