Given Frieri is likely to be expensive by the time we see another good Padres team, why not cash him in? Remember we're suppose to be able to grow middle relievers in Petco like friggin tomatoes.
The NC Times had a story that the middle infield wasn't likely to survive the season. At the time I understood both deals, but those have turned out worse than any of us could have ever imagined.
