Phials & Potions
Thu Dec 4, 2014 16:30

"Me too what exactly? No, you know what. I don't want to know. I just want to sleep. Is that too much to ask around here? There's a million other places in this school you could be right now. Go annoy some first years or go to the village know what. Go use Bob. Beat him senseless or something. Don't you have, like, detention or something? Can't you just fu...what the hell is this?"

Her tirade came to an abrupt halt when Grace pressed some sort of glass into her hand and commanded her to drink it. Ri's eyes moved from the box of little phials to her former room mate to the potion in her hands trying to make sense of bizarre amount of information that had suddenly flooded the room. All the little pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that had she been any body else might have clicked easily into place. She wasn't though and whether by way of stubbornness or actual blindness she didn't see any of the clues the room presented her with.

The purple potion had a sickly smell so she placed it down on the dresser. She hated medicine, hated doctors, hated hospitals and she'd seen enough of all of those things to last the rest of her life. Every time her mother got ill her Dad would decamp to St Mungos and come back with an array of brightly coloured liquids that supposedly made her better. If Zombie was better than the alternative she supposed...still. It all boiled down to the fact that she didn't even take a painkiller unless Petals absolutely made her so however much Grace said it would help her sleep there wasn't anything in the world that could make her take a swig of that foul smelling potion.

Then she tried to press the phial into her hands and she pushed it back forcefully. "Yeah, thanks but no thanks," she huffed. "Why do you even have that? No, again I don't want to know." She tugged at the waistband of her pyjama bottoms and rubbed her palm over the gooseflesh on her bare arms, suddenly wishing she'd worn more than a crop top to bed. She was shuddering. Or was Grace shuddering? "Ug. When did every body get so damn creepy?" she glared.

She noticed one of her jumpers hanging over the back of a chair and growled. They hadn't been room mates for years but the girl lacked respect for boundaries that even Ri got sick of. "Well then, ask," she grumbled, trying to fit her head through the arm hole. "Oh wait, no," she changed in her mind for the third time in as many minutes. "Are we about to talk...about stuff? Oh sweet snitches we are, aren't we." She sank into the chair and tugged on the cuffs of her sleeves to pull them down. "Go on," she groaned. If misery had a face it would have looked exactly like Orion Hardy when there was 'talk' about 'stuff'.
