She worried when he didn’t answer right away. He was a thinker and she’d give him all the time in the universe to think it over if he asked, but she’d still worry the entire time. She didn’t even know if an out-in-the open relationship was what she wanted; she only knew she didn’t not want it. He fixed her with a look and all she heard was the yes. A loud, incredibly uncool yes, that was better than she could have hoped for. The rest of his words was lost in those eyes and the sound of her heart in her ears. She pulled his hands close to her and kissed him. The movements distracted just enough to for the slight shake of her hand ,moving the bracelet from her wrist to his, to go unnoticed.

The hunger in his eyes was in his lips, his hands. And she couldn’t seem to stop the words from pouring out each time their lips parted.

“ I asked Ri’s permission.”

“She said it was okay.”

“ So I did it right - “

“-and you don’t have to worry about-”

“Stop. Talking.”

She ran her fingers along his arms. Not just hunger. A protectiveness. A promise that however much they showed to the school, there’d always be a part of them that remained just for them, secret and private. She nodded, making a noise that might have been “Okay” and let him draw her close. She didn’t bother to count how long she held onto him, but she thought she might burst into a confetti’s worth of joy if she let go prematurely. So she held on onto she was sure she could be seen without looking like she’d just set a whole line of pranks around Balgren.
