Up until the last moment she wasn't sure that Bradley wouldn't just growl at her, spit out an insult and stalk off as he usually did. That, or give her a black eye. He didn't though. His full weight pressed against her and instead of fighting it she closed her eyes and surrendered. The alley disappeared along with any notion of being caught. With one sense gone the others were heightened and she felt everything.

The soft flesh of her back was pushed into the stone as he lifted her out of her shoes like she weighed nothing more than a leaf. Which she guessed she didn't, at least to him. She felt like one too. Maybe it was the cold or the effects of copious stolen drinks but she couldn't keep herself from trembling. The warmth in his hands helped, especially as he placed one of the back of her neck and used the other to wrap her legs around his waist.

For the first time she knew what he wanted and it made the months of torture that had come before worth it. Her hands were shaking still but she buried her fingers in his shoulder blades and pulled herself closer into the crook of his neck.
