He ran a hand over his neck and tried to avoid punching anything afterwards. It was a massive effort.

“It’s you. This whole time, there’s just been a massive distraction. And it’s you." He couldn't explain how or why, but he knew it.

"A distraction?" she echoed in a very, very cold voice. He'd obviously prepared this speech though and wasn't going to be stopped by something as trivial as a question. She set her face to neutral.

The words that were coming out of his mouth didn't agree with the feelings trying desperately to remain in his fists. It was the thing she hated about him the most, as of right now. Talk about a bloody distraction.

"What happened last night with you and me and…that shouldn't have happened," he said. She shrugged.

"Okay," she told him, but he wasn't listening to her.

"It was just more distraction among all the others and it broke us. As a team, it broke us. You saw it out there for yourself."

Blah, blah, blah - he continued. It wasn't worth listening to him when he said one thing and did another. She bobbed her head in agreement anyway and when that didn't work she shook it instead. He didn't like that at all.

"Don’t shake your head at me!" She stopped. "So what we did then, shouldn’t have happened and can’t happen again." Not that it wasn’t good and he didn’t want it to happen again, but a man needed to have priorities in a clear order if anything was going to get done. “You get that?”

"Fine," she said and got to her feet. She didn't mean it, there was probably nothing she'd rather do right now but if he was looking for a reaction he wasn't going to get it from her. "Are we done?"
