I can't listen...

2601:982:8201:63b8:6572:4b4f:96c8:62f8 his extemporaneous ramblings for long, either.

I very much like hearing him when things are a little more structured for him, say an interview or a look at QI or in an acting job of some sort.

I believe him to be a genius, and often with genius comes a disorganised mind or one that just won't "dial back". Its the rare genius that has a disciplined mind as well. Delightful as he is, he certainly is a cheerful mess.

I often wonder if that is why one rarely sees him in complex leading roles; even as Jeeves the complexity was nothing like Laurie's Bertie. It was a good fit, for the solid simplicity and being behind Bertie with an undercurrent of dignity and loyal caddishness suits the role, with Bertie downstage in the light and in need of that loyal support.

I would suspect Stephen as a child would have been well-medicated in America, since undisciplined genius is usually called some syndrome or disorder, then the Americans proceed to feed pharmaceuticals to the little beggar to make him or her "the same".

Would I trust him? Probably deep down I would keep a hand on my figurative wallet, but I think he would be a hell of a good friend and great fun. Might be needful though; often that is part of the package with minds of that nature.
