Perhaps the Battle of Brocks Barn might turn out to be an annually celebrated victory of the badger over the locals attempts to evict him; more than one yearly village fete in Britain has a root in something at least as colourful.

Rolling cheeses and gurning and pelting the residents from atop the village hall with buns...
