Arnold (Cetus)
If you say so!

The blond boy in front of Arnold honestly seemed completely unaware of what was going on. In the time that Arnold had taken to ask his question, the other boy had also been able to find a repulsively filthy sock. He had somehow managed to smear some of the sock dirt on his forehead. Arnold opened his mouth weakly moved his arm to gesture at the smudge, but couldn’t figure out exactly what to say. He just seemed too happy, so Arnold decided to let him continue in blissful unawareness. Cheerily, the boy explained he didn’t have any clue what the charm was supposed to be, but that they could figure it out together.

He then trotted off to his desk in the middle of the classroom, and asked, well, ordered Arnold to join him. Rubbing his head in confusion, Arnold trudged behind the perpetually cheery boy. Though he still wasn’t sure about his sanity, Arnold figured that working with a partner was better than working alone. Plus, his new acquaintance was right, he would be able to see better in the middle. He briefly wondered if he was stealing someone else’s seat, but Arnold decided to sit down anyways.

“And vhat ees it zhat ve are charming? I am not remembering.”

Arnold’s jaw dropped slightly at the boy’s question. Had he really missed that much of the lesson? Oh well, at least he was friendly. Arnold had seen a couple of angry looking people furiously waving their wands, and was silently thankful that he didn’t have to sit near any of them. Shoving his somewhat legible notes towards the boy, Arnold tried to explain.

“Well, it’s the Scourging charm. It’s supposed to clean things, which is why we have all of these… lovely… items in front of us.” Arnold glanced warily at the plate that had been shown off earlier, hoping the reminder wouldn’t spark another speech about its beauty. “And you’re supposed to say ‘scourgify’ while waving your wand, and that’s about all I got. I couldn’t see what the professor was doing.”

Surveying the dirtied rag in front of him, Arnold shuddered involuntarily. It had touched his face . Casting a sidelong glance at his partner, Arnold picked up his wand. He felt rather silly, never before having done magic. He’d only seen his father preform a spell a couple of times. He didn’t use magic too much at home since it had a tendency to unnerve his mother, though he’d bet that the Scourging Charm would be one she’d appreciate. Arnold had a bad tendency of slipping when he wandered around the woods near his home.

“Let’s give this a try, shall we? Scourgify.” Arnold flicked his wand at the rag. Nothing happened. He brushed his brown hair out of his eyes and shrugged. “Well. That didn’t work. I don’t supposed you want to give it a try?”
