Justin Key
I... don't know what to say to that
Tue Feb 25, 2014 22:20

Justin tried not to exhale too loudly when he noticed that the other boy was examining his robes and hair. At least Justin had been somewhat discrete about his disapproval of his classmate's attire. And then, despite a clear and simple, foolproof reiteration of the purpose of the lesson, the idiot still went and grabbed his book. Was he trying to look intelligent? It wasn't working.

Honestly, if they could just get to opening the trunk and abandon the friendly pretense he imagined this would go more smoothly. Of course, that couldn't happen, but one can't help but dream.

"Uhh, you want to go first or me?"

Justin realized he'd been scowling and stopped immediately, looking away as he answered, "I will." He wondered if his mental cringe would slip out like the frown had, but he doubted the idiot would notice. Actually, he really needed to learn the boy's name - Justin didn't much like talking to anyone but Benjamin, but it was unacceptable that he didn't know most of his classmates' names despite the year and a half he had spent with them. Now he just had to hope that there would at some point be enough of a conversation to ask for a name without sounding moronic.

Moving in front of one of the chests, and pulling his wand out, Justin shrugged his shoulder slightly, hoping to force the lizard crawling along it to retreat to its pocket. John was a little too close to his neck for comfort, and although Justin was proud of himself for keeping a moke secret at school thus far, he didn't want to take risks. Not that there was much of a risk that anyone was looking at his neck, that was actually a little silly of him.

"Alohamora." Justin tried out under his breath, testing his pronounciation. "Alright... Alohamora." He swished his wand. A flicker of light appeared, but nothing else happened. Repressing a sudden wave of nervousness and trying not to imagine that his partner for this assignment might be laughing at him, Justin tried again. Nothing at all this time, and he suspected he'd said it wrong. Taking a deep breath, he repeated the spell much more calmly with a more careful swish. The lock rattled a bit, and at least that meant progress. He felt sure he could open it with another try, but that would mean finishing the whole assignment himself. There didn't seem to be any extra trunks, after all.

"Do you want to try?" Justin asked, looking over.

Kenneth was relieved when Justin did not make a big thing of his display, aside from a snide remark. His classmate only fixed the lock and performed the spell correctly. Kenneth felt a tinge of... more
