Kenneth Wilson

Kenneth tried not to feel too smug when it took Justin three tries to get any result. He reminded himself that it would probably take a couple tries himself to get the trunk open. When the lock rattled, Kenneth nodded and said, "Nice."

"Yeah. I'll try." Kenneth sized up the lock. It was a puny lock, obviously no match for him. He could take it easily. If the lock thought it had any chance against him, it had another thing coming. Merlin, I am lame, thought Kenneth. NO. Self confidence. That lock would pop open like bread out of a toaster. That lock would pop open before Kenneth finished the spell.

Ready, Kenneth chanted the spell and swished his wand just as Justin had. The top part of the lock slammed against the lid of the trunk. Kenneth felt triumphant for brief moment until he realized that there was something clattering inside the lock. He had broken it. And furthermore, Kenneth fumed as he pushed against the lid of the trunk, the stupid box was still locked.

Kenneth turned to look at Justin. He looked less than pleased. "The box just couldn't handle me," he shrugged.
