Emma O'Malley {Draco}
Don't feel sorry for yourself, feel sorry for me
Fri Mar 8, 2013 19:13

Emma walked into Magical Sciences with a bit of a spring in her step. Where her first semester at RMI had been confusing and frightening, she now felt that she was getting the hang of the magical world. It didn’t hurt either that she had seen her sister again over break. Diana was finally getting treatment and it was working. It looked like the horror of the past summer was finally over.

Not only was life better in general, but Magical Sciences was one of her better classes. Potions was her favorite by far, but although she had never been great at science in elementary school, this material was easy for her. She was still struggling with spells though. She could cast them. Some of the time.

Sighing, Emma sat down at her desk with her needle and dish. She magnetized the needle easily—she had done the same thing in her 2nd grade class—but she couldn’t get the Hover Charm to work. Sure, her needle would quiver a bit, but it wouldn’t lift into the air. Professor Ward had given them permission to use water, but to Emma, that felt like cheating. She wanted to use the charm, she needed to use the charm.

Frustrated, she turned to the girl next to her. “Could you help me with the Hover Charm?” she asked. “I just can’t get it to work.”

“Yes? Did you say something?”

Emma blanched a bit at the standoffish tone from the other girl. “I just asked if you could help me with the Hover Charm. It’s giving me some trouble. Charms aren’t really my thing, you see,” she explained.
