It was the first official day of Will working at CHESS, the first day of the term. Unfortunately, it had not gotten off to the best start. He'd not had a good night. Nightmares had plagued the librarian and he'd woken up shaking a few times, soaked in sweat, his heart pounding in his chest.
Even now, Will could still remember his bad dreams. His best friend's brothers encircling him, wands pointed, taking their turns at using the Cruciatius Curse on him repeatedly while the walls screamed in the background. It wasn't the first time he'd had that specific nightmare either. Yes, Markus Knight had been put in Azkaban, and the one brother, the one that was actually not a bad person, the one Will never would have needed to worry about harming him anyway, was dead but he was still afraid. Ava did have three other brothers, after all.
He didn't want to think about it anymore, not about any of it, but Will couldn't help it. The event had pretty much destroyed him inside. In fact, he often wondered if it had done so literally. He felt horrible a good portion of the time. Stomach aches, headaches, muscle aches and chest pains. Will was slightly afraid that he'd been cursed with something that was eating up all his vital organs and stuff and one day he would indeed fall over dead anyway.
However, Will didn't tell Ava this. He was afraid his best friend would be too upset. She felt guilty as it was and the librarian was surprised she hadn't just plain abandoned him. He was worried that she felt guilty every time she saw him, even though he felt she had nothing to feel bad about. Yet, Will lived with her and Blake on Osman Court.
Plus, he was afraid Blake would get mad at him for bringing Ava down so much, or taking up so much of Ava's time. Will had to admit that if the roles were reversed, he might not have been all that understanding. The librarian was a far more insecure person than Blake appeared to be. In this case, it was because his ex had cheated on him and if he had a girlfriend, he'd be worried about the same thing happening again.
Now, he sat down behind his desk. Will had to admit he was glad to be working at CHESS. He felt getting another job was nothing short of a miracle. More importantly, while he didn't necessarily think it was safe here-or anywhere-at least it wasn't the very place Will had been attacked at. And the walls didn't scream either, which was a plus.
He leaned back in his chair and took out a book that he'd found in the library here. It wasn't too long before someone approached Will.
