Diagnosing the Problem

While her chosen future didn’t seem compatible with healing, it was the major Briar had chosen to pursue when she’d heard about CHESS. After all the saying never mess with a healer, they know how you’re put together and thus know the most painful ways to take you apart, was quite true. That and it did seem like a worthwhile profession once she got everything squared away.

Maintaining her chosen mask had required a much hated trip to Old Navy to purchase her entire muggleborn wardrobe. She’d only been able to afford dozen outfits that she could mix and match though out the term. It aggravated her to be reduced to such a common thing but it fit her mask perfectly and Briar was at heart a survivor. She would do what needed to be done, even if it required playing such an unsavory role. Today she wore a forest green t-shirt with a red plaid over shirt and another pair of worn jeans.

She made it to class on time, and was glad of it when she saw the professor lock the door when class was about to start. How embarrassing would it be to find the door locked? Mentally she made note of the practice so that she never showed up late to this particular class. After taking few notes Briar stood up with the rest of the group to observe the casting and witness the effects of the spell. For a quick diagnostic it would at least narrow down the trouble spots, but it was a bit vague Briar thought.

Returning to her seat Briar took out some fresh parchment and her text. She had always been a good student, getting decent if not perfect grades so she wasn’t overly concerned with the coursework. It would be difficult getting back into the habit of studying though, after the past few years away from it. Missing those years will take a lot of extra work on the sly to get fully caught up Briar thought forlornly as she read.
