Reading interest survey seem to have been valuable to both of your studies. I think it would be a great idea to send one home for my students and their parents to complete together. It would not only help in the classroom but give parents an idea as well of the material their child is or isn't interested in reading. Sadly some parents may have no clue or be really surprised by what their child would actually like to read. For the past few years, my kindergarten class has been reading buddies with a 4th grade class. We would meet every 2 weeks and have the kids pair up and take turns reading to each other. It is a very meaningful activity and so fun to watch. Its hard to tell who enjoys it more- my kinders or the 4th graders.
