Sarah has provided a marvellous rationale for including higher kids. Is that what you had in mind? Or something different? I'm still hung up on the original research questions. One track mind :-)

          I like this idea. I think that too often we get "hung up" on ability grouping - I know that I do - and this provides good rationale for mixed groups. I will try keeping this in mind.

      I think it is super that you had different ability children in each group! Whether the child learns the strategy from you or their peer-the modeling is still there!

        I agree Sarah, utilizing peers to provide modeling is a great strategy. Kids often learn a great deal from each other and enjoy cooperative group activities.
