standardized test tips
Sun Dec 4, 2011 23:00

There are too many limitations to standardized testing to go into, which are only compounded by young kids and young ELLS kids not understanding how to even complete them. Another value of multiple measures. However, here is some advice when your salary bonuses get tied to student performance: 1) Don't teach in classes or schools with either mostly low or mostly gifted students (the former doesn't progress enough to get you a bonus and the latter has no room to get better on tests since they are already scoring at the top). 2) Do teach in schools and classes with lots of average or slightly below average. They will demonstrate the most growth statistically in response to instruction and you will get your bonus. Another lame brain educational reform by folks who do not understand education, children, teachers, or statistics.
