MaryBeth, I've also always wondered why kindergarten students are left out of receiving ESL services and support. It seems counter intuitive right?! Aren't we always hearing how important it is to intervene early? Maybe its because kids are such sponges at this age and they are able to soak up more from being in the classroom than pull out could provide. However, I would argue that the regular classroom these days presents many more challenges for assimilation and these ELL/ESL/LEP children could benefit from the additional support during their transition.
