I felt like this paper was more difficult than the last one we wrote. I wrote a compare and contrast paper because I thought it would be simpler to discuss the similarities and differences between the two. Although when I got into writing it, I found out that it was going to be harder than I thought. I found myself summarizing the stories instead of telling about the parts of the story that was important to the overall message. So I had to keep going back and taking out parts that I thought werenít that important and adding different stuff. For some reason I had a problem figuring out how to word things to prove my point. Then after I said something I wanted to support it with text from the story but that was difficult because I felt like I was repeating myself.
The easiest thing about the paper was telling about the similarities and differences between them. As long as you know both stories and what happened in each of them then your set. Mr. Bates discussed the two stories I wrote about in class so I felt like I understood both of them well enough to know what Boyle was trying to say in each. This helped me kind of finish strong and make up for what I didnít do so well on earlier in the paper by explaining how the stories were related and different.
My biggest problem is that I procrastinate too much. Both papers I waited until the last minute and try to write the paper. For the next paper we write Iím going to try my best and get it done earlier for a couple different reasons. One, I wont have to rush as mush and Iíll be able to take my time and put some more thought into it. The other reason is that Iíll be able to let Mr. Bates look over it and give me some feedback on how it looks. I thought that I would be able to do it just fine on my own, but when heís there and willing to help why not use it.
