For the song that is most related to my life, I chose “We Rode In Trucks” by Luke Bryan. This song is about growing up in a small town and how it’s the little things that mean the most, like friends and family. The songs talks about how there isn’t much to do in small towns, but you make the most of what you do have. I grew up in a really small town. My town only has one stop light and it actually is right outside the city limits. I had to drive at least fifteen minutes to get to the nearest town for school, food, and grocery shopping. I wouldn’t trade where I grew up for anything. I loved living in a small town where everyone knew everyone. Farming is a big topic in the song. Where I’m from, everywhere you look you see corn fields, cotton fields, soy bean fields, cows, hog farms, and chicken houses. For me, that’s how I know I’m home. The song also talks about how everyone drives truck s in small towns. This is definitely true for where I’m from. You either drove a truck or wished you did. We would tailgate on football game days and go out to barns on the weekends to hang out. We didn’t have a nice movie theater, bowling alley, or mall, but we had plenty of fun with what we did have. Luke Bryan’s song is intended to explain how life was growing up in a small town. I think he definitely got this point across. This song explains my hometown down to a tee. When you grow up in a small town, it stays with you forever. Even now in Greenville, I get tired of being in the city. I would choose to be out in the country any day. I like it here, but I love when I get to go home just to get away and go back to my roots. There is nothing like being home. I feel like this song relates very close to my life and explains the way I was raised.
