I also have a student who has very clear characteristics of ASD. Although he is does not qualify for EC services under Autism, he has a lot of the traits that students with Asperger's have. Like your student, my student also does not struggle as much with reading comprehension. He loves to read, but it is sometimes hard to find things he actually enjoys reading. He is stuck on "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and complains that all other books are "lame." I think he really relates to the character in the "Diary of Wimpy Kid" books and gets into how it is written. He likes cartoons and graphic novels a lot, and he has a really large vocabulary.
