I have made a lot of progress on my annotated bibliography. I have 11 of them done out of the 15 so far and I want to finish them as soon as possible. My plan is to spend all Friday afternoon finishing up, so that I can have my weekend free. I changed my topic around a little, though. I had originally started with just researching the death penalty and capital punishment, but I improved it a lot by my changes. I narrowed down my topic to being against the death penalty. I had found many more articles and papers against it, so that made it easier. I am also looking into how different states react with the death penalty. By this I mean who is for it and who is against it, because it varies greatly, especially compared to the north and the south.
This paper is very different from any one I have done before. In high school, only those in English 12 and Advanced English 12 were required to do a large annotated bibliography class. Because I was preparing for the AP Exam, I was allowed to write a paper on a controversial book, One Flew Over the Cuckooís Nest, which is a lot simpler. I feel that in middle school and high school all the papers were just about a book or a simple topic. Nothing seemed to be as complicated as an annotated bibliography.
There are many challenges I faced so far in this project. The number one issue seems to be having the time to research and read through so many different things found for the project. Using the ECU Database has helped me greatly, though. It makes it easier to narrow down my topic and find information that helps me. The database is also helpful in finding research that is from 2007 to the present day. Another challenge for me is getting the citations perfect. I keep on finding little mistakes that could hurt me in the grading process. So I have to keep on triple checking to make sure everything is right.
