Annotated Bib Topic

After spending a few hours thinking about what topic I should research for my annotated bibliography, I have decided to write about attention deficit disorder (ADD). I want to pick a topic that will not be too difficult for me to find reliable resources on. Since our sources are required to be relatively new, I figure why not pick a topic that has only become an issue in recent years. I personally take ADD medication and it has helped me tremendously throughout college. However, I also realize that the increasing number of children being prescribed ADD and ADHD medications is rapidly becoming an issue of concern for many adults with children who take them on a daily basis. I think that I will try to focus most of my research on children, since they appear to be the most common users of these medications. There are also people that don't believe attention deficit disorder a true disorder at all, despite the fact that it seems like every kid in America is taking medication for it. I want to dig deep and get a better understanding of why ADD is such a rapidly developing diagnoses among young children today. The sources I find, hopefully, will provide me with a variety of different interesting views that published scholars have on the subject.
I personally found the library instruction class on Wednesday to be very beneficial. I have always tried to use the library as a basic research tool, but I never knew that Joyner had so many resources to choose from. One thing that I really am glad I learned while I was there was how to narrow down my search on the library website, which will help me when I'm looking for the best sources to use in my annotated bibliography. When I heard that all of our sources must be 2007 or newer, I honestly freaked out a little bit. I had no clue how I was going to find that many current sources. Now I know that won't be a problem because I know how to update my search to include only sources that have been published since 2007. I also liked how the library instructor showed us how to use Knight Cite, which I definitely plan on using when I create my citations for my bibliography.
