This English class is very different from previous English classes and is exactly how I felt a college level English class would be difficulty wise. The work I was used to turning into high school was not acceptable here and I had to learn that pretty quick. The expectations of the papers have been increased drastically from high school to college level papers. In high school I could just start the paper a night before and it would get me at least a B but now I really have to start ahead of time to produce the quality and information needed. I feel from taking this class I have filled up major gaps that were in my writing before coming into college. I also gained valuable information on different types of papers and things I needed to know before writing a research paper. I can not think of anything that was benefited the least because they all were equal to me in getting me better grades on my papers. I had taken English with Mr. Bates before and I had good expectations for this class as well because even though the grading is challenging and it does require a lot of work but I did expect to learn a lot more about research based papers. In my other English classes we would be required to read novels and then after the novels write papers about the novels. I also thought the reading analysis and Boyle's writings were valuable and enjoyable. I feel the class did meet the expectations I had set for it in the beginning of the semester. Even though most of the papers were fairly difficult I still like the challenge. English research papers were a little more difficult for me compared to the papers we wrote last semester in English 1100. I have not gotten as good of grades this semester as last semester but I feel like it was mainly because of me starting the papers and searching for the information too late and end up staying up all night the night beforeI look forward to never having to write another English paper again.
