My opinion of the TC Boyle stories is kind of mixed. I like the stories they are different, but at the same time they are very strange. When I first read on I just have to stand back and think abut where I stand on the story. Like “Modern Love” I still don't know how to feel about that story, it was a very strange story. The girl in the story, all she was fascinated in was strange diseases and bacteria. She couldn't be with a guy, because her doctor didn't give him the ok, and because he had inherited a shoe store. That just to me is pretty strange, and I don't know how to think about that. Though there are the stories like big game, that I really did like, “Big Game” I liked that story, and it is probably my favorite story. How the Benders came to this safari experience to get furs for properties that they had and didn't like. Everything went wrong for them, from Mike to not being the big shot that he thought he was. To him messing up with his wife no getting the animals she wanted, to him almost getting killed by the
lion. Then at the end where Bessie Bee killed everyone, but she had to. It was kill or be killed in her situation. I like how that story was set up. Honestly all the stories in the death section I have liked pretty well, except “The Human Fly” they all held my attention pretty well, and for the most part I liked the suspense that it built up. The stories in the love section are the ones that have been really weird, and I don't know if I like them or not. The only story out of the love section that I might like pretty well is “Little Fur People”. But as far as reading another stories, well to be honest I'm not a very big fan of reading so, no I don't have any suggestions on a story the class should read. Though all in all, I'm liking the stories, even though I'm on the fence on a few of these stories, they are different and keep you guessing on the rout that he maybe taking with the story.
