I am proud of myself for opening up and expressing my emotions. My pre-anorexic experience is a part of my life that I have always wanted to forget but writing this paper has shown me that I can learn and benefit greatly from my experiences. I am very relieved that my paper is complete and submitted. My process for writing papers is slightly annoying because I try to finish everything all at once. A four page rough draft could easily take me five or six hours to complete. I usually try to set aside an entire Saturday or Sunday afternoon to write. This strategy helps me stay focused and it reduces my chance of repeating words and ideas. Once I am in my “writing zone”, ideas begin to flow out of my mind spontaneously. I try to write everything down before I forget it.

This personal narrative is only my second college paper so I was slightly apprehensive about turning it in. In my opinion, every individual has a unique writing style so it’s difficult to appeal to everyone’s preference of reading. My paper met the minimum required length; it contained details, a small amount of dialogue, and personal thoughts and feelings. My two main concerns are that I did not provide enough information to support my story and that I did not organize my paper properly. I try not to predict how well my papers are because they generally are the opposite of what I think.

This writing assignment is similar to other assignments I have completed. Almost every paper I write has to be 4-6 pages in length, 12 point font, MLA style, and times new roman. I think that I was well prepared for writing this paper because in the past, teachers would give me a prompt and not explain anything about how to write the paper. Your in-class sample narrative and notes were very useful when I was struggling to include details in my paper. All I had to do was remember your sailing story and I could easily think of details. The writing book also provided a helpful guide that I used to assist myself through the writing process. I am anxious about getting my grade back on this assignment but I know that even if I do poorly, the resources I need will be provided so I can do better on the next writing assignment.
