So far the TC Boyle stories have been nothing short of interesting. He seems like the kind of person that doesnít care to hide his true thoughts, I suppose most authors donít. He thinks of the strangest scenarios almost like heís fishing for people’s reactions to be repulsed. His stories always start off somewhat normal and then he follows with a crucial plot twist that takes you back. I keep the book on my desk and whenever I sit down to do my work I feel like heís staring at me so I have to put the book in backwards just to avoid his half shadowed creep stare. I picture him to be one of those people that act like they lost their marbles. I mean itís not really fair to judge since you canít judge a book by its cover, even if his face is on it. The story Iíve liked the most so far was the ďBig GameĒ because it was one with a somewhat happy ending. Personally I love elephants and it reminded me of the movie Water for Elephants. Even though it turns out almost everyone in that story dies the elephant stands up for herself and gets rid of the three terrible people that are nothing but selfish and arrogant. There are few characteristics that I canít stand and those happen to be two of the three. So I have to admit my mind cheered a little when I read that the elephant protected itself. The story I liked the least was the ďHeart of a ChampionĒ. I felt it was over dramatic for the story of Lassie that no one really knows anymore. Obviously during those times television was much different and would only allow the happy go-lucky life to be broadcasted. People love dogs and think they are meant to be faithful and loyal, so this story just made people love them even more. I personally havenít felt the urge to pick up the book and start reading it yet because his stories are always graphic. Personally I donít like gore descriptions and action bloody things so itís not quite my style.
