The TC Boyle stories that we have read so far have been very interesting. I would not say that I have absolutely loved each one that we have read, but I do not hate any of them. If I had to choose a favorite, I would probably have to go with the “True Love” story. I liked it the best for many reasons, one being that it was very easy to understand and somewhat kept me guessing what was going to happen next. I thought that the main male character was just foolish for staying with the girl for that long, especially after the full body condom incident. That’s another reason why I liked this book however, was that it was comical at times. I thought it was really funny how Boyle allowed the male character to continue his relationship with the girl even though he made references to how annoying she was but then talked about how much in love with her she was. The story that I like the least that we have read would probably be the Lassie story. There was nothing really specific that I did not like about this story, or anything that really stood out that I hated. I just never really got interested in this story and the fictional events that were occurring, such as the dog talking to the parents and the parents understanding what the dog was saying. I did however think it was extremely funny when Lassie just saved the boy from a tree falling on him and the boy just said “Gee thanks Lassie.” Another part in the Lassie story that I thought was pretty funny was when Boyle said that the boy stepped and on a snake and right when he did Lassie bit the head off of it and killed it. There is absolutely no way that that could happen in real life, which is why I think the author wrote the story, to make fun of the television show Lassie. There are not many stories that I would like to read that we have not read yet. I have not really looked through the whole book but so far, the stories that we have read have been interesting and not too terrible.
