My reaction towards the TC Boyle stories that we have read so far for class have been decent. The stories are really weird and some are a bit boring. The one that I liked the most so far would end up between a tie with The Big Game and Modern Love. The Big Game was a little better than Modern Love in certain aspects. Modern Love was just plain weird and thatís why I liked it a little. I was interested in what else would go in the relationship for the two characters in the story. The Big Game was just entertaining. I have never read a book that went that and ended that way. The characters in all the stories a described very well in the beginning, so you always know how to picture the person and what their personalities are like. Heart of a Champion was the story that I liked the least. It was beyond boring and it took everything I had to get through it. I just didn't like the story line and where the story took you. I know who Lassie was before I read the book, but I never took interest in it. I thought it was stupid that people were talking to a dog that was saving the world. I guess it just wasn't my thing. I actually have read a few of the other stories. One that caught my eye was The Devil and Irv Cherniske on page 302. I think the reason I read it was because I watch a show called Supernatural and they deal with things like this in the show. It reminded me of this thing called the crossroads demon. They were demons who could be summoned up into a crossroads by a person and there they made a deal for whatever the person wanted. The deal was always sealed with a kiss and the person who made the deal was only given 10 years to live before the hell hounds came a dragged their souls to Hell. Either way I thought it was cool, it just reminded me of the show. I think it would be nice to read and discuss in class.
