I think that when I am writing my issue paper I will encounter a few challenges. These challenges include demonstrating both sides equally, not using bias sources, finding good sources to use, and not sounding like a stoner because of the topic I chose. I believe that the topic I chose has two distinct sides and will allow me to demonstrate the skills I have learned in English classes. Another thing I am concerned about it getting the paper done on time. In the last few weeks of the semester school work accumulates and it is challenging to multi task. However, getting the issue essay done in time is defiantly an accomplishable task. One thing I found surprising in my research was the amount of politics involved in marijuana legalization, distribution, and consumption. In places that marijuana is legal it is regulated and monitored very carefully by the government. I found it interesting that legal drugs such as alcohol and prescription medicine have less government involvement. This could be due to the fact that marijuana is a new substance and needs to be strictly regulated much as alcohol was after the days of prohibition. I wonder if marijuana regulation will become less strict over time. I was thinking about the format of the paper and which option would be a better choice for me. In some instances I do have counter points while others are just points of interest. I think I will argue one side completely then argue the opposing side (format option one). In regards to the open discussion I think you could fit a few more questions in it. Some questions that could have been included are: Of the papers you have done so far which has been the hardest? Knowing that exams are coming up, how will this paper affect the rest of your studies? How will you adjust? Do u have a view point on your topic? Knowing that the assignment is a non-biased issue paper what is your personal opinion? Be sure not to include it in your paper. I think a few more questions could have been included in this discussion board to make it easier to write.
