For the annotated bibliography and the issue paper I have a few topics in mind. 1) Social Networking, is it a step in the right direction or has it gotten out of hand, 2) Teen Sex, do the readily available supplies of free condoms help or hurt the issue, 3) Gay marriage, and finally 4) Abortion. I have narrowed it down to these four topics because I feel like a strong argument could be made for either side of the issue. Also, they are also all fairly new issues (other than abortion) so I shouldnít have a problem finding recent articles on them. To find articles that will help me with the annotated bibliography and later the issue paper I will be using OneSearch on the Joyner Library database, Google and Google Scholar. OneSearch will allow me to simultaneously search scholarly and accredited databases such as Ebscohost, Academic Search Complete, Credo and LexisNexis Academic. One thing that I really like about using OneSearch is that you can select exactly what you are looking for and it does all of the searching for you. You can choose to search for journal articles, scholarly reviews, newspaper articles, online print sources, literally anything. With Google, I will be able to find stories that news companies have done on my topics. Stories from a company such as CNN would be extremely beneficial to my paper and I would automatically know that I could trust what they were saying because they are always going to have references and such to back up what they are saying. Google Scholar is an even more refined search engine because it only pulls up scholarly sources (hence the name). By using this I can hopefully find sources that the university database either didnít have or just didnít come up in my search. I could be wrong but I feel like it is a much wider search than OneSearch. With all of these databases available to me I am confident that once I choose a topic, I will be able to write an effective and detailed annotated bibliography and then later a paper.
