I did my annotated bibliography on the topic of technology/video games and whether or not it can lead to positive or negative emotional, physical, or mental changes. The most challenging part for my annotated bibliography was having to read/ skim through all of the articles while make a brief review of them. To most people writing a brief abstract would seem easy and in most cases it is. But the fact that about 95 percent of the articles I found/ used had a minimum of 12 pages wroth of information. Most of the articles that were of that length were case studies that the authors had organized to demonstrate the effects on a first hand basis. Having so much detail within one case made it harder for me to write a short depiction of it. Having that uneasiness with the length of my review for each article may have hurt my grade because I feel that I may have left out information or put useless information in the annotated bibliography.
The easiest part of the annotated bibliography was making the citations in MLA-Format. Before doing this paper I was still a little concerned on how I was to put the articles in proper citation form. This was biased on citations I had to put together in a previous paper. While creating my citations with multiple citation aids: such as Knight Owl and easy bib. I also had my teacher to point out minor errors. Each citation became easier to construct. Though I will admit, creating each citation was a tad bit monotonous; it was overall very beneficial for this class.
Now that I have completed the annotated bibliography I am more conscious as to what an annotated bibliography is and the correct way to construct one. Granted I know that I need a lot more practice to create better-annotated bibliographies.
Despite the fact that I will probably not need this skill for my career path it was a good way to practice citing sources. It was also a good way discover what more reliable sources were, in a more professional/formal context.
