Issue paper

The topic I decided to use for my issue paper is on the gun control issue going on as of right now. Ever since the random school shootings and the random location shootings people are trying to make efforts to making the purchase of guns illegal or at least harder to gather. People that are for it believes that with these new gun laws people will become safer in their houses and environments around them. Another reason they feel it should be stricter laws is because people are starting to become very untrustworthy and that even though it is in our amendments to have the right to bear arms. But people are not using it in the way intended. Now as of right now that is all I know for the people wanting to make stricter laws but I have more reasons to be against it right now because that is usually all that is on the news. Those against the gun restrictions believe that if you were to take the gun rights away from the citizens than that gives those who don’t abide the law better chances of achieving their own personal goals of possible robberies and other scenarios. They believe it would be helping the criminals that don’t follow the rules in the first place. It would also take away the ability to protect ourselves if the problem occurs. One example is with gas stations they usually have a gun to help stop robbers. If they took away guns robbers can easily go in and take all the money they want. To be fair I can understand where both sides of the argument is valid but it also has its down side to it as well. Yes tragedies happen that we cannot control but that shouldn’t mean you should take away something that could potential save people’s lives at the same time. The paper will mainly impact any population mainly people 18 years or older, basically anyone who can vote and have their own voice be heard. So this is my topic for the issue paper, gun control.
