The most beneficial experience out of English 1200 is that I can honestly say I know how to type a paper with proper in-text citation as well as a proper work cited page in MLA format. In high school I wasnít really taught how to write papers properly and didnít understand what MLA Format was. Over the course of this year my ability to type research papers has increased greatly. This absolutely has and will benefit me in other college classes for years to come.
The short stories have also benefited me in a way. When I went through and read every story, I began to write down side notes, so that when we had to do the in class writing assignments I would actually remember the story or use any of my side notes to help answer any other questions to the assignment. The fact that you make us write about what weíve read and answer some questions help us exercise our brain. I am a kinesthetic and auditory learner, and because of that I find myself forcing myself to analyze every sentence, phrase, or statement in the short stories, which has actually of helped me for other reading intensive classes as well.
The least beneficial experience was the online writing assignments that we had to do every Friday. One it didnít help my grade much because I would forget or be so busy doing other assignments that I wouldnít have the time to type it. And second off I would much have rather came to class and done something else than have to type something up that usually takes me twice the class time to do anyway.
English 1200 has been my most interesting and entertaining class this semester. Compared to my other classes the number of individuals in the class was almost five times smaller; thus allowing us to talk more frequently than usual. Having the permission to voicing my opinion freely with out punishment has contributed the most too. My English teacher last semester was very similar to you (verbally and teaching wise): sarcastic, out spoken, laid back and seemed grumpy most of the time. Therefore the transition to your class wasnít difficult nor was a change in the experience.
