This semester in English actually turned out a lot better than I had thought it would at the beginning of the semester. I am not gonna lie, at first I was really intimidated by your class. I thought the papers were going to be really difficult and I would have a hard time. However, things turned out better than I had thought. I have worked really hard, and made sure to start my work early and really follow all directions and comments you mentioned in and outside of class. I can say I really learned how to write a proper paper, with proper MLA formatting. Also, I learned that not all papers have to be tin he classic 5 paragraph style that I was so accustomed to in high school. Perhaps my favorite thing about this class is that I really benefited from the lecture and truly learned how to better my writing. In my previous freshman college English class, my professors were horrible, they were grad students with no idea how to run a classroom or how to give beneficial criticism. I ended up leaving the class confused with no idea how to improve my work. Most beneficial was the opportunity to fix the first paper, and not just because it gives me a better grade. I liked that you provided us this opportunity because it gave me a chance to really go back and edit my work and understand the mistakes I had made. If you had not given us this assignment, I would not have given it much thought. This really helped improve my other papers. Least beneficial I would have to say is the Boyle stories. I understand why we read them but I didn't really learn anything from them. They were all really weird and didn't help me with much of anything. Overall, the majority of the stories I didn't like and I would have to read it over and over again just to somewhat comprehend the story. I am really happy with this semester so far and I know for a fact you have helped improve my writing, this is the best English class I have had in a long time.
