Iím not going to lie; I was pretty intimidated coming into English 1200 this semester. I took English 1100 or whatever it was in some form at community college back home my senior year. I wasnít sure if it would prepare me well enough. I was also actually pretty afraid that you would hate me and make my life miserable. Luckily Iíve made it through without any hurt feelings.
I really do feel like I have benefited from this class, if anything it has given me the confidence that I can successfully research for papers and write them to some extent. I think it has helped me to better analyze stories too a little bit, from the Boyle stories. Something that I found very helpful was being able to have appointments where we could discuss papers. I need to be able to talk about what Iím writing in order to figure things out, and I get really frustrated when teachers deny you access to talk to them one on one.
I swear Iím not even trying to brown nose here but I didnít really find anything in the class really bad. I guess I sometimes wished that we could briefly discuss the readings before we had to do the essays on them, but overall I did pretty well on them anyway. Overall I think the class was pretty good, and if itís not broke, donít fix it.
The class has been similar to the class I took at community college in the way that we didnít really do a whole lot of work in class, and it was more on you to find time to research and write, and get help yourself. We didnít actually do as much ďin classĒ per say as Iím used to because in high school we had to cover a lot more than just writing. I feel like it has just been different because itís college and the course is more specific. I guess Iím use to more small assignments and then one big paper rather than less assignments and a few big papers. I think that Iíve liked it better this way anyway so itís all right. I just wish that I were done with this last paper now because Iím struggling with it, a little. Overall this class has not been nearly as excruciating as I had predicted and I am pretty happy with it.
