Issue Paper Challenges

Facing the upcoming Issue Paper, I believe I will run into several challenges. The first of which will probably be finding sources that arenít biased. The topic of abortion has been around for many years so there has been enough time for many people to create their own opinions. Another obstacle I will encounter is being able to stay unbiased myself. I am a very opinionated person, and have my own beliefs on the matter, but will strive to keep them out of this paper. I am most concerned with being able to portray both sides equally when there isnít much data to go on considering most sources will be based on the authorsí thoughts and feelings. From the information I have found Iíve learned that some people look at the topic as pro-life versus pro-choice, while others look at it more as legalized abortion against making them illegal totally. Both viewpoints have the same core principles like being able to choose to have an abortion or not being allowed to legally. However, the pro-life/pro-choice argument is considered to be more close-minded because it only focuses on the extremes. So far in my research, many people are interested in finding a middle ground where abortions are legal for pregnancies conceived from raped, incest or that may put the mother in danger. Something interesting that Iíve found is that in some states there is only one abortion clinic in the entire state; this coming from state legislation making it difficult for some organizations to stay open. The only question I have is what is the best way to organize a paper where there arenít many key points to be made. In all honesty, the issue of abortion comes down to a personís beliefs and upbringing. The only way I can see organizing this paper would be discussing one side and then the other.
I feel there is an adequate number of questions in this particular online discussion. Some of the others didnít prompt enough discussion to fulfill the 350 word minimum without stretching some things too far. Since these are really only one sided discussions I begin to feel like Iím rambling when I try to reach the word count.
