This paper is actually very interesting to me! Not knowing a thing about genetically modified organisms, I have learned a lot of new and interesting information. I started with basic research just to get a better understanding on the topic itself since it was new to me and was instantly pulled in. The main two sides of the issue are whether or not genetically modified organisms are safe and healthy for the consumers. GMO’s are still commonly used but they are beginning to be banned for health risks that scientists are now researching. But something that surprised me is the argument that GMO’s are tampering with nature. Although I have not found much helpful information on this side of the argument for banning GMO’s I am continuing to search.
I believe that my biggest challenge with this paper will be finding reliable unbiased sources. I do not believe that I personally will favor one side over another but after beginning my research I have found a plethora of biased blogs and articles. Especially for the argument of banning GMOs because most of the driving force behind the ban comes from organizations and clubs. So, of course their websites and posted information is biased and would not be helpful in writing this paper successfully. I will be faced with a challenge of not transferring the bias within the information into my paper. I am also nervous the source struggle will result in me not containing enough information to develop both sides of the argument within the paper. Hopefully the library databases will be more help because I have yet to thoroughly search through those.
One question I do have is how much background information on the topic is too much? I do not want to go into the paper not explaining what GMOs are and why they are being disputed but I do not want that to be the main focus of my paper either. I guess I am just having trouble finding the correct equilibrium. And in regards to your question about having too many questions, I enjoy all of them! Thinking of 350 words to write about can be difficult and the more questions you ask the easier it is! So yes, you can fit more questions and please do!
