I would think so...

It would make sense that once they clicked on the link for the site that it would not come up. That would also be a problem with Pinterest in the classroom in general though. I'd guess you'd have to make sure anything you pinned at home to use in the classroom would still work if you tried to open it up at school. I have yet to run into any pins that I thought were inappropriate for children to view, but then again I haven't looked for any pins that would be inappropriate for children. I am always very cautious with Youtube. I will not show anything that I have not pre-screened (honestly I don't even do that with DiscoveryEd or BrainPop either). However, I'm extra vigilant with Youtube because inappropriate things can pop up when you least expect it. For instance, I was looking for a Veterans Day clip (a reading a Flanders Field) because I wanted my students to hear the poem being read to get a good feel for it since we were "studying" the poem. I found one and I was watching it and I was going to use it until at the very end it popped up a picture of the American flag and a slogan "Don't f*** with the USA" appeared. I nearly fell out of my chair! Obviously, I didn't pick that clip but I was so thankful that I watched the entire video to the end!

Oh my!!! I'm guilty of just skimming discovery Ed clips or listening to them in the background while doing something else but I haven't used YouTube, mainly because I know it's blocked. I know a lot... more

You have to watch Discovery Ed too. I was showing the students a video on the Lost Colony and there was a picture (one of John White's drawings) that shows the breast of a native woman. I hadn't... more
