Fundations is meant to be whole group, I think. I'm not sure because technically I've never been trained on it. It was one of those "this is what we use and here's the manual" things when I started teaching. Even though it's scripted for you, I don't really use the script because I don't like being told exactly what to say. :) When I used the program, I felt like the skills carried over into their own writing because they were use to practicing the skill. When I did only word sorts and no Fundations, diagraphs, blends, double letters didn't stick with them as much. I feel like word sorts focus more on the patterns of words. So maybe combining the two this year will help more. Maybe! :)

    I'm curious, do you incorporate both Words their way and Fundations in order to get your higher students reached? Or is the fundations a whole group program?

        I like the idea of Reader's Theatre. I have seen my students grow so much from readers theatre. You have to comprehend so much in order to perform well and most of the children really get into it.
