I am simply going to throw down my hat. They may be tough lovd, they may not.

I started writing on this Board quite awhile ago actually, under different names. I won't say what those names are for there's too many of them to count. I say this because I've been here for a long time, and I've seen all the things people say and ask for.

As a writer, it is important to write what you enjoy. There is no point in contributing a story that you don't find interest in yourself. I have never claimed to write for you or for anyone else. I simply write stories that I personally find enjoyment in. It is also important to remember that you don't owe a single person here anything. Even if you host a contest you still technically don't owe anyone anything even if you promised a prize of some sorts. This is not a paid service. This is not your job. You do not get paid for this. You are not binded by anything or anyone to do what others expect you to do. The only thing that is asked is you obey the rules.

As a reader, it is important to understand that no one here owes you anything. They have no obligation to entertain you. They have no rhyme or reason to write stories that cater to you. If you want those find someone on Patreon and pay them to write you a story. But here, we owe you nothing. So long as the story abides by the rules, there is no issue with what the writer posts even if you yourself finds it to be the most disgusting thing ever. That being said, it is also important to give constructive criticism when it is necessary. The keyword here is constructive. What is constructive criticism? It is not asking or demanding a story be continued/discontinued, it is not simply saying a certain type of story doesn't belong here, and it isn't attacking a writer for writing in a different format/having mistypes in their story.

Constructive criticism gives healthy and passive advice on the structure, the pace, the format (but not in a rude way), the details, the descriptions, etc. Constructive criticism is good and useful for developing writers. But there are ways to put these opinions and advices in ways where it's not so rude and obnoxious.

Please remember that unless there is a disclaimer saying the story is true, most of these stories are simply made up from a person's brain. There is no planet where any of my stories especially were ever true for if they were they'd be in jail. While it is important to keep protagonists I would say 16 and up, there is still no obligation to restrict yourself. My thing is I usually don't disclose their age unless I feel it is relevant to disclose. That way there is no issue either way.

  • Observation by a disgruntled author - Anon, Wed Feb 13 13:58
As an occasional author, I have to say this board's audience is a bigger problem than the people who post stories. Anon audience members are demanding and rude, assuming authors have some debt to... more

The reason I have been disinterested in contributing my fantasy scenarios related to the title of this board is that it often seems to me that the readership here is disinterested in enjoying the... more

Definitely do not feel that way. All types of stories are welcomed by us all. If someone doesn't like it they won't read it. I personally have always liked weird stories with am element of SciFi or... more

Dear Writers, This may come off harsh, but I'm going to say it anyways. If you cannot take the heat, get out of the fire. While we can battle for what we believe is right and the ideal discussion and ... more

I get it. I really do. You have an idea of what this board should be and when people seem impatient, ungrateful, and demanding, it seems the exact opposite of what you want for this board. But... and ... more
