Up until my senior year in high school, I had never written papers that contained a large amount of content. Sure we did book reports and what not the first couple years of high school but it was not until my senior year that we did more literary analysis type papers. I remember that my senior year we had to compare a few of Shakespeare’s short stories and that was probably the most difficult thing I had ever written up until this point. The reading was easily more difficult than the actual writing of the paper because it was written in the “Shakespearian” style of writing that no one can really understand. Writing was never really that difficult for me in high school but it was also nothing I enjoyed that much either. I did a few poem analysis papers in high school too but they were some kindergarten bullshit papers that were on easy poems. I am interested to see how you grade the T.C. Boyles paper due to the fact that is an actual paper and not just a personal narrative. Seeing as it is a literary analysis paper, will you grade it with a different mindset depending on the stories we choose to write about? The T.C. Boyles paper does not seem too difficult if the instructions are clear and you have a viewpoint that is easy to write about. What are you looking for, content wise, in this paper? A lot of teachers in the past have been very misleading in what they want in a paper. I have had cases where I put the content the teacher specifically asked for in my paper and still received a low grade. Knowing what a teacher is looking for in a paper is very important to us as students so we can know how to format our papers to accommodate it for content. Is there any specific length that is appropriate for this paper? I am assuming you are not looking for a whole book but I know there is probably some desired length for all these papers. It should not be a difficult paper to write but I am sure your grading will be tough as it was on the first paper.

What kinds of papers have you written before in terms of literature? Have you ever done a literary analysis? Poem analysis? What questions do you have going into this TC Boyle paper?
