Out of all the Boyle’s stories we have read so far, I liked Carnal Knowledge the most because it was such a true depiction of how relationships and hook up scenarios are in today’s time. In Carnal Knowledge, Boyle depicts the double meaning of carnal. He hints at it throughout the story as being a type of meat and also a sexual meaning as well. In today’s society, a lot of males only see women as just a piece of meat and want to hook up and then move on. Boyle depicts this in the story by using a man character that is desperate to have sex with just about any woman at this point. He meets a smoking hot piece of meat whose dog pissed on him and they hit it off. Too bad that his whole plans come crashing down due to the fact that she only used him to help carry out her liberal agenda of freeing animals. The Boyle story I liked the least so far was Little Fur People because it was very strange and had no relevance to my life. The plot was quite interesting, in a weird way, because not many people care and nurse-injured squirrels back to health. Boyle also pokes fun at Fish and Game wardens as not being serious law enforcement when in reality they are a huge deal when dealing with wildlife. The story that was like no other that I’ve read before had to have been The Human Fly. This story was very entertaining but also quite different because of the lack of fear in the main character. He was willing to do just about anything to become famous even if it meant risking his life in every stunt. Boyle has a unique writing style and how he goes about leading on the reader. He keeps me intrigued with most stories but others are quite irrelevant and boring. I have notice that Boyle has a lot of underlying meanings in his stories and it’s quite mind blowing to discover some of those ever when you never would have guessed they were there.
