For the TC Boyle paper I chose to write about the themes in two stories. I chose theme because it seems a lot more appealing to me than doing compare and contrast. I find it difficult for me to compare and contrast stories/books in papers. The theme I chose was animals/environments and the stories I want to do are Carnal Knowledge and Little Fur People. I chose this theme because Iím an animal lover but not like the woman from Little Fur People, I definitely believe that if an animal isnít domesticated and is raised outside then it should stay outside. Iím also not a vegetarian like the woman from Carnal Knowledge but I still do care for animals. In these stories someone is attempting to save animals in a way. In Carnal Knowledge the woman is an animal rights activist and is completely against meat, which results in the guy who likes her avoiding meat also. In Little Fur People, the woman wants to ďsaveĒ all these squirrels and take care of them. She thinks sheís doing the right thing but sheís actually harming them because theyíre supposed to be outside because theyíre wild animals. I liked these stories even though they were kind of strange; they definitely made me want to keep reading more. I wanted to find out what was going to happen to the squirrels and if the guy was going to get what he wanted. These two stories showed that the author thinks that treating animals is wrong, even though in Carnal Knowledge he seems to have a humorous attitude towards the woman being an animal activist. I mainly chose these two stories because their themes are pretty much the same, and both of the women want to help animals. What Iím going to focus on throughout my paper is why the women did what they did. The theme of these two stories shows the authors personality a bit and I like that, heís humorous but also caring. Throughout my paper Iím also going to elaborate on why the author chose to write about these stories and what their purpose was and what it teaches the reader.

Which option for the Boyle paper have you chosen (Theme or Compare/Contrast)? If theme, what theme have you chosen and why? What stories have you chosen for your paper and why?
